It wasn't THAT hard, but I'm amazed we didn't die

My Spitfire is finally in my own garage. My friend Rob and I pushed it the half mile from the storage unit to my house. In the dark, with no lights, brakes, etc. It was actually pretty easy, save for the little bit of uphill getting out of the storage unit. And the fact we had until 9pm before the gate locked automatically...

But we got out at 8:57:56 roughly, so perfect timing. Then we had to push it about 300 feet along a usually busy access road. It was light traffic, and a kind soul got behind us and put on their flashers. After that it was some funny stuff, but mostly uneventful.

Yet we're still amazed we did it and lived. There was a lot of potential for trouble, and we narrowly averted most of it.

Now I have all my parts in my garage, so of course I can barely move in there. But I can now work on it whenever I want, and will have better facilities once I put some shelves up and more lights.

Happy New Year!

Yes, I've been away. Had some illness, then when I recovered from that I had surgery to fix an injury from August. Anyway, my Spit is almost on the road. Just need to get fuel to the carbs, and it should run. It ran on starting fluid the other day. I'm almost there.

A few more pics, and hope

Well, a few more pics of the rebuild. I've moved, had strep throat, and just had surgery yesterday since the 4th of November. Needless to say, I'm not making the type of progress I want to. I really hope to drive my Spit to my club's Christmas Party. That's a few weeks away. Once I'm recovered, I hope to get cracking. For now, here are some more shots.

Instead of preparing to move...

I decided to do a quick post. Almost a year ago I bought my Spit, tore into it, and thought I'd be driving by now. However, the heat of the summer in a garage/storage unit with no fans or ac made work stop. Then it started cooling off again, and I went crazy trying to make my car ready for the Texas All British Car Day weekend in Round Rock, TX.

The show came and went, though I did get a huge amount of work done. More in 3 weeks than the previous 6 months. And this is roughly what has happened from the previous pics in the last post.

Actually, there's much more progress, I just got lazy and didn't bring the camera over. Next trip will fix that...

The Paddock is open

Ok, so I decided to finally just make a blog about my car and my experiences with other Triumphs and the occasional other Brit cars, too. (Interlopers!) That being said, I'll be putting up pics of my current project, a 1978 Triumph Spitfire 1500 and the progress made. For entertainment, I may even dig out old pics of my other cars and relate some of the humorous stories and joys of ownership.

These are pics from the day I brought the car to it's current home, and as you can see, it's not too shabby. Of course, I went ahead and tore into it quickly, so it'll be quite some time before things look this good again.
